Well, I saw the movie and it was fantastic. It was the best movie I've seen all year! It was so much better than the first movie (Twilight). The irony of me saying that is that of the books, Twilight is my favorite out of the four and New Moon was my LEAST favorite. But, the movie director did such a great job portraying the characters and emotions and situations that were going on in the book. It was beautifully done. Great special effects. It is definitely a movie that you need to see in the theater.
All in all, I'm VERY satisfied with the job that Chris Weitz did as a director. I was really disappointed when I heard that they were replacing Catherine Hardwicke (who directed Twilight). Because I enjoyed Twilight so much I thought that they were making a huge mistake replacing her as a director. I was VERY wrong. They are going to be replacing Chris Weitz for Eclipse and putting in his place David Slade, who incidentally directs mostly horror flicks. This has me slightly concerned for the next movie. I think it's important to note here that Melissa Rosenberg has done an excellent job as well with the screenplay for these movies. There are few changes that she has made from the book to the script, but nothing too drastic, I think. I was happy with the results.
And... (drum roll please)... Twilight Saga: New Moon has currently brought in the "Biggest Box Office Day Ever" with a whopping $72.7 million on Friday alone! That's better than The Dark Knight which was the current Box Office Record Holder. WAY TO GO NEW MOON!!!
I had a great time with my girls which included both my sisters Keli and Jill, and my cousin Ashley, and my cousin and best friend Denae. We all had a great time! Even the previews were fun! Can't wait until June when Eclipse comes out.
So, I have two movies for you to DEFINITELY GO SEE BEFORE THEY LEAVE THE THEATERS... First is the Michael Jackson movie This Is It. This movie was absolutely FANTASTIC! It will blow your mind, even if you are not or have never been a Michael Jackson fan (which I was). But nonetheless, SO GOOD! And, New Moon... Best movie I've seen all year. It had everything... Romance, Adventure, Action, Horror, Comedy, you name it! Go see them!

Lesson's From My Dad

I had the most interesting conversation with my dad tonight. He called because he recently saw the movie "2012" (which is about the whole world coming to an end) and said that it made him think about his relationship through the years with me. He wanted to apologize for some things. He talked about how sorry he was for our living circumstances. There were times that we lived in a van, that we've lived in an RV, that we've lived in a tent, so on and so forth. He felt really guilty about that. I explained to him that I was grateful to have had those experiences because they have made me more appreciative of what I have. That got us on the subject of the movie "The Pursuit of Happiness" with Will Smith. He talked about how difficult it was to watch that movie because we lived such similar circumstances and often our circumstances were worse because in the field of construction they weren't as understanding if you said that you had to leave early to pick up your daughter from daycare. They would just fire you. But, what choice did my dad have. We had no relatives to help. We weren't members of the church, so there wasn't that help for us. He literally had NO ONE to help him.
He told me of a time when I was in preschool and it didn't open until 9:00 am, but he had to be to work at 5:30 am. He literally started knocking on doors until he found someone who could watch me and take me to the preschool when it opened up. Something that would be unheard of in todays world. But again, what other option did he have? Get fired? Have no money to support us?
We talked some more about a lot of different things that were difficult times for us. But somehow, my dad looked at each one of those situations and said, "God blessed me with "this" or God stepped in and helped me with "this". He didn't once say, "God left me alone to raise a daughter in a tent!" Which is exactly what I would have said. He chose to see the blessings that God gave him throughout each trial. "I had nothing and God gave me a tent" "I had nowhere to sleep and God gave me someone with an RV" "I had nobody to watch you and God gave me a stranger to watch you". Talk about seeing the good in a bad situation! My dad is a fighter! He is a happy man. He choses to see the positive things in life when it is very hard circumstances indeed.
Dad: I love you! Thank you for EVERYTHING!

NEW MOON NOVELTY STUFF!!!
THE COUNTDOWN IS ON!!! Look to your right and you can see for yourself that we are quickly approaching the premier of The Twilight Saga: New Moon. I AM VERY EXCITED, AS YOU WELL KNOW! I went to get my novelty stuff this weekend. I bought my T-shirt with Edward and Bella on the front of it to wear the night of the movie and I bought novelty candy to sneak into the show. I will be the only one in my group that will be "dressing up" for the show unfortunately. I'm still trying to convince at least Denae to get a New Moon shirt to wear. Either way it will be SO MUCH FUN! Waiting in line, the anticipation, sitting in the seats while the crowds shuffle in, the previews, and then... SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT'S LOGO! WOOT! WOOT! THANK YOU STEPHENIE MEYER FOR GIVING ME SOMETHING THAT I ENJOY SO MUCH AND LOOK FORWARD TO! YOU ARE LITERARY GENIUS! Anyone who can get this girl loving to read, is brilliant!
So until Friday... My heart will beat fast in anticipation of my Edward's return to the "Big Screen"!
Sidenote: It's a good thing Randy looks so much like Robert Pattinson, huh?

It's Been A While

What have we been up to? I've been busy making sloppy joe's, hogies, and grinders while my husband has been busy at his NEW JOB (YAY!)!!!
Randy got a job at the State Hospital doing HVAC maintenance. He has the ideal schedule. Monday through Thursday with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Three day weekend... how would it be. He's off by 5:30 most evenings and he's very happy. He likes the people that he's working with which makes it so much nicer for his day at work and for the people that he comes home to.
Jackson turned twelve and was given the priesthood and has his temple recommend now. We're really excited that he can go to the temple to do baptism for the dead because I have a ton of family names. I am the first and only member of my family so there is much work to be done. It will be so sweet to have him participate in the temple ordinances we do for my ancestors.
We went to Vegas recently and I went to a football game and enjoyed myself. Yes, you read that right. I enjoyed myself. It was a couples weekend with Randy's family and NO KIDS! So much fun!
Halloween was a blast. Rachel was a girl from the fifties with a cute little poodle skirt and Jackson was a disco king with an afro and the whole get up.
I got the swine flu. It sucked. I recommend getting the H1N1 vaccination. Anything that will help make the symptoms of it a little less is worth waiting in line for. Take my word for it.
I've lost about 10 pounds since school has started. My goal is to lose about another 20 pounds. I probably should be working a lot harder than I am. I'm not really trying right now. Which is probably why I'm just staying where I'm at.
I'll keep you posted on any other changes. OH!!!! NEW MOON COMES OUT IN 12 DAYS AND I HAVE TICKETS FOR DENAE AND I TO GO! SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!

Summer "Wrap Up"...
Well, we ended this summer with a BIG bang for our family. RANDY GOT A NEW JOB! He won't have to travel anymore for work and I couldn't be any happier. The job is literally a few blocks away working for the Utah State Hospital doing their HVAC Maintenance. I was excited when he first told me he got the job, but it wasn't until I was delivering the news to the kids and explaining that Daddy wouldn't have to leave out of town for work anymore, that I started to cry. I am sooo grateful for this opportunity that we had to live like this for a period of time so that we can better appreciate our time with him. Before he had this job, I don't think we understood that the time we spend together needs to be a priority and well spent time. I did a lot this summer without him. Although, it was still great. Here is a summer "wrap up" of the fun we had. We did a lot more, but there wasn't ALWAYS a camera attached to me, lol. I hope your summer was as great as mine. My kids turn twelve and ten this upcoming year, so I hope that next year they will still enjoy spending time with me during the summer.
